![]() | Supporting Technophobic Presenters: How One Pharma Company Did It |
A major pharmaceutical company needed help: in launching and supporting an important drug, they'd have speakers around the globe giving presentations to a wide variety of audiences in nearly every conceivable environment.
At CMW, we began the way we always do—by listening. After listing requirements and establishing business rules, we recommended an interactive web-based slide library which would give speakers access to presentation assets from any computer in the world.
We started by using the drug's artwork to create the user interface, building brand cohesion. And, because the users were not technologically-oriented—and would be using a nearly limitless variety of computers—CMW built the entire interface using Adobe Flash, eliminating the need for any proprietary software.
Next, we had to make the process of building presentations as easy as possible. So, our user interface designers mimicked the familiar "drag-and-drop" functionality of PowerPoint. We also established "required slide relationships" enabling speakers to easily find and download slides related to the ones they'd selected. Then—thinking ahead to the "worst-case scenario"—each presentation was saved on the main server so a speaker could re-download it if they misplaced their file or a computer failed. Finally, once a user finished creating their presentation and saved it to their desktop, it was locked so no further edits could be made to the slides.
The Slide Library was an immediate hit. Our web-based solution delivered every item on the client's wish list—plus a few more capabilities they never thought were possible.
Better yet, CMW also built a password-protected administrative area. Now, the client can administer all aspects of the site themselves, including managing speaker usage, uploading revised presentations, viewing metrics and creating informative usage reports that help them easily revise and improve their presentation assets.
